Body Paragraphs: Where TEEL comes into play
What is TEEL?
The TEEL paragraph structure can be used as a tool to help you write clear and concise paragraphs and essay responses. It is important to develop the use of this tool in order to write effective paragraphs and essays. This will lead into our work on persuasive writing.
T: TOPIC SENTENCE – Introduces what you are going to be talking about in your paragraph – In other words, it should communicate to the reader your contention (the main point/view of this piece of writing).
E: EXPAND/EXPLAIN – Gives more details about your topic sentence.
E: EVIDENCE/EXAMPLES - Provides support with material from references. It can include events, quotes, facts etc.
L: LINK – Links the information back to your topic sentence. It is a summary of what you have been writing about.
