Book Analysis: What on Earth is it and How Do I Start?
So you have been asked to analyse a book and have no idea where to start or what it even means?
To analyse something is to closely examine it, to understand its parts and their relationships with one another. To analyse a book you must examine different sections of the text and understand how they fit together. It is like tipping all the pieces of a puzzle on the floor and looking at them individually and putting them back together. You have the picture on the lid of the box telling you what it is supposed to look like when complete but you will need to examine its detail and sections to put the pieces together. You can either follow the steps in order below or jump to the bit that suits helps with that homework task the best! We will be using the book 'Tomorrow when the war began' as an example to help you follow each step. |
